Dyson V8 Absolute the power house

Dyson V8 Absolute is better than the older Dyson V6 thanks to more power, easy bin emptying and longer run time. The Dyson V8 is a way better cordless vacuum cleaner than many other cordless vacuum cleaners available in the market today.

The vacuum cleaner comes with a soft roller hard-floor cleaner head, two powered brush heads and detailed cleaning tools. The Dyson V8 Absolute comes with a better filtration system.

It may be a bit heavier and expensive but it sure is a better alternative with longer lasting time between the charges.

Build quality and accessories

Although the Dyson V6 and Dyson V8 looks almost the same at a quick glance but give it a good look and you’ll figure there has been significant upgrade job done on the V8 and all its accessories. The biggest upgrade is the battery pack as it is chunkier and packs more power. The bin is slightly larger.

The guys at Dyson moved the maximum power switch to a more convenient slide switch on top for the v8. The handle and trigger remains in the same position. The ergonomics result in near perfect weight balance for your hand.

Because the fitting of the tools are slightly different than the V6 so you can’t use the older heads but all the tools are provided already so that’s not an issue. The tools and heads definitely aren’t something you will struggle with.

Although it weighs nearly 300grams more than the V6 but you would notice a big difference. After a whole house cleaning I could feel the muscles of my hand start to feel a little ache but that’s definitely less than any other vacuum cleaner I have used. I figured resting for 10-30 seconds after each operation tends to improve the fatigue and results in better performance. Relax 10-30 seconds after each operation.

Cleaning the dirt bin

The Dyson V8 includes a clip that is placed on top of the central cyclone so you can pull it up while the base flap opens simultaneously. The dirt and debris are immediately ejected out of the bin. This is a massive improvement over Dyson V6.

Easy to use

The Dyson V8 Absolute is the most easy to use vacuum cleaner. All you need to do is make sure it is charged enough, fit a tool and pull the trigger. The rest will be taken care of with the help of its powerful suction power.

Attaching and detaching the peripherals is quick and real easy thanks to its robust system. Just push the button and slide apart. Take the next piece and snap it just like that. It takes seconds converting it from a hard floor cleaning tool to handheld roof cleaner.

Cordless is better than corded

Unlike a corded vacuum you don’t have to worry about cords getting tangled or cords limiting the vacuum cleaner from reaching deeper darker corners of your room.

It can act like a cylinder vacuum cleaner but better

Attach the wand and the cleaning head and you got yourself a cylinder like vacuum cleaner but only better since the most of the weight is in your hand so it’s a lot easier to handle and move the head around without dragging any heavy cylinders around.

Accessories

The Dyson V8 comes with a head which is called the fluffy head for hard floor cleaning. The tool can be lifted easily with the crevice tool since it is light enough. Reaching corners are made easier. The tool is built with soft fibers and static carbon bristles. Includes a rear soft roller. Cleaning is super easy.

The crevice tool is handy

Cleaning under the sofas has never been easier thank to the direct drive cleaner head. It’s ideal for the carpeted floors as well.

Wall dock

The wall dock is unique than its predecessor. The dock holds and charges the Dyson V8 in five hours. You may find it annoying to store the other accessories including the motorized heads.

Battery life

The battery life is certainly longer than its predecessor. I found the battery life to be long enough to clean my rooms that include three rooms, a bathroom, the stairs, hard floors and carpeted surfaces and the roof.

After cleaning all my house which includes the Computer desk (trust me my computer desk is a mess and cleaning it is a hard nut to crack!) I was left with one-third of the battery.

The bin

Although small in size I have found it to be big enough for a whole house cleaning. For more messy cleanup you may have to empty the bin more than once before you’re done with the cleaning.

Cleaning the bin

Cleaning the bin is easy, just place Dyson V8 on top of the bin, and pull the red lever found on top of the V8. This lifts up the cyclone, opens the bottom door of the Dyson bin and dumps the dust and debris. Push the cyclones down again and it will scrape dust off them before pushing the door closed again.

Exhaust Jet

The jets are placed at the left and right side of the cleaner so it doesn’t blow straight to your face like on the previous models. Bad news for some of you who found it to be fun.

Expels cleaner air

The HEPA filters of Dyson V8 Absolute filters particles down to as small as 0.3 microns which means the vacuum cleaner leaves cleaner air.

How does the Dyson V8 Absolute clean?

The Dyson V8 is top performer in terms of cleaning. Thanks to the sheer suction power Dyson V8 produces cleaning the whole house is easy. Reaching the deepest corners are easy and fun. The Dyson V8 sounds a little quieter than the Dyson V6. The sound was never a problem for me.

Carpet cleaning

The direct drive performs marvelously well on open carpets. It had cleaned sugar and powdered milk on my carpet with easy in 1 pass only. Given it wasn’t wet.

Hard floor

Edge cleaning on hard floors were superb. One pass and the hard floor is clean. Use maximum power for the cracks on hard floors. It was particularly effective on soft floors as well.

Pet hair cleaning

The Dyson V8 Absolute cleaned pet hair just fine like its sister Dyson V8 Animal.

Overall

It’s a great handheld vacuum cleaner. We definitely recommend the Dyson V8 Absolute not just because it’s a great machine but based on how good it works as well. It’s absolutely flexible as well as easy to use and packs with enough power to clean your whole hours in 1 charge given that you don’t always run it on maximum power. If you’re wondering yes it is fully capable of replacing a corded model. If you’re thinking about getting one, by all means we recommend you do so.
